Author's Craft

Kate Feiffer has a very unique way of writing her stories. Mostly every book that she writes has something to do with an experience that she has had in real life. Like in the book Double Pink, her daughter inspired it because she loved the color pink. The book Henry the Dog, was about her own personal dog that had no tail. She takes her life in some way shape or form and pulls it into a book. It is not always something directly in her life, but things that are going around in her life at the time. It is great to know an author that does this because it is great to be able to relate to a book. Relatable books are great to have in a classroom, so that children will interact more with the text and have real past experiences and have the background knowledge to know about certain books.
